Drivers in the market for a new vehicle have several aspects to consider. Especially for those shopping within the luxury segment, it can be crucial to make sure that the extra money being spent is going into a quality, reliable car. For decades, J.D. Power and Associates has given drivers peace of mind, by offering initial quality ratings on vehicles. Jaguar has frequented the top of the organizations list for some of the most reliable, high-quality vehicles on the market.
Through the rating system, brands are examined and ranked by the number of issues that occur per 100 vehicles. The brand with the lowest issue-count per 100 vehicles is the highest ranker. This year (2015), Jaguar was able to snag a spot in the top three vehicles for reliability and initial quality. While the power ratings are for 2015, Jaguar did have 2016 Jaguar Reliability and Initial Quality factored into the ratings. For a breakdown of our models and where they ranked individually, read on.
As a recent additive to Jaguar’s lineup, the F-Type has fared fairly well in the J.D. Power rating system. It ranked above average in overall mechanical quality, powertrain quality (for both mechanical and design), and body and interior quality (for both mechanical and design). The F-Type was also ranked “among the best” in overall quality design, and features and accessory design. '
The 2015 Jaguar XF received quite the upgrade, with two new trim levels and an abundance of added features. It received above average scores for overall initial quality in design, and was rated among the best for body and interior quality design, and features and accessory design.
As the XJ’s sibling, the XJL offers a longer wheelbase. There haven’t been specific ratings for the XJ posted for 2015; however, the last time the ratings were posted, the model was ranked as “better than most” in overall quality for design, and features and accessory design.
